05 May 12° West, Live from the Annapolis Boat Show!
Sailing season officially kicked off last weekend with the Annapolis Spring Sailboat Show. We had a fantastic time at this year’s show, meeting lots of new sailors and seeing many return customers too, which is really cool. The weather was amazing, resulting in a record turnout for the weekend. You’d think that would be enough excitement, right?
Actually, there’s more! We did our first ever television interview! DC-area CBS affiliate WUSA9 did several features about the boat show for their morning program, Great Day Washington. One segment focused on things at the show besides boats – namely, all the great shopping for sailing-related goods. The spot featured quick live interviews with 12° West and our friend Maggie Lee of Maggie Lee Designs.
I have to admit, I was really nervous. But host Meaghan Mooney and Mike the cameraman put me (mostly) at ease. Meaghan’s main piece of advice: don’t look directly at the camera (which is harder than you think!). Although the segment was just over a minute, it felt much longer while we were taping. And because it was live, I had one shot to say everything right the first time.
In case you missed it, you can watch the segment here:
As you can see, I find it hard not to giggle when people refer to me as a “fashionista” – but in this case, I’ll take it. All in all I’m pleased with how the interview turned out. And grateful for the opportunity to talk about 12° West live on television. Many thanks to the Annapolis Boat Show, WUSA9 Great Day Washington, and Meaghan Mooney for making it such a fun morning. Hopefully we can do it all again in the fall!
For the interview I wore the Saybrook Stripe Shirt in cream/gray stripe and the Sag Harbor Skort in black, layered with the Vineyard Vest in red. To top it off I wore my favorite necklace, a Maggie Lee Designs Compass Rose Classic Sterling Pendant.
