25 Apr Great start to sailing season in Annapolis
Well, another Annapolis Spring Sailboat Show is in the books! What a great start to the sailing season. Thanks to all the old friends who came by to visit our booth, and hello to all the new friends we made over the weekend!
This year’s show was marked by (mostly) sunny, warm weather, a big improvement after last year’s deep chill. We didn’t even need to use the heater we brought (but it was a good insurance policy!). Several new events were added to the show agenda this year, including free food and wine tastings from local restaurants and live music throughout the day. The best was a group of grade schoolers who sang covers of classic rock songs – those kids killed it! If you’ve never heard “Living On A Prayer” belted out by a 9 year old lead singer with attitude to spare – let’s just say there’s nothing to compare it to. If only we had the presence of mind to take video!
Best of all, we were fortunate to have great booth neighbors. If you’ve ever worked a multi-day show, you know how important it is to have good people around that help keep your energy up. Shout out to our friends at Skipper Bags and Marmara Imports for making it such a fun weekend. Definitely check out Skipper Bags – they make great sea-inspired sailcloth wristlets, totes, and cross-body bags, as well as unbreakable nautical-themed wine glasses. We freely admit to buying the navy wristlet with red gingham anchor and the matching key fob.
And if you haven’t discovered the gorgeous Turkish cotton towels from Marmara Imports, you’re missing out. Their towels are amazingly soft, absorbent, lightweight, and dry super fast, making them perfect for boats. We have several pieces from the Regatta Collection (in classic blue, red and white of course), and can’t wait to get more. We took them on last year’s New England charter and used them as bath towels, table cloths, beach blankets and shoulder wraps. The best boat accessories are ones that fill multiple functions, and these towels fit the bill.
Once we’ve rested up a bit we’ll post more pictures from Annapolis – it really is a magical place. But for now – bring on sailing season!
